Student events

Amilty Affliction playing in Canberra

We’re open to the good things in life and know how to balance work and study with fun.

Canberra is a highly accessible playground offering world-class festivals, facilities, entertainment, outdoor pursuits, dining and shopping and a calendar overflowing with cultural and sporting events.

Wherever you choose to study, life on campus will also include a range of optional activities, events and parties organised specifically for students in a safe and enjoyable environment. Many of these events will be organised by the Student Union or Association, or one on the numerous student clubs. Information about these events can be found through their website, on campus noticeboards and in local student publications.

Orientation

It is traditional for every tertiary institution to hold Orientation Week for new students at the start of each semester – with Orientation Week in semester one being the biggest celebration to kick off the academic year.

This week-long event includes a range of information sessions and tours to help you get to know your new surroundings and learn what is expected of you as a student. There are also student only social events and parties, including events specifically for international students, that help you meet other people and integrate into student life.
